Straddling the continental divide, The Bob Marshall Wilderness complex contains towering limestone cliffs, deep canyons, dense forests, wild rivers, windswept ridges, lush meadows and plentiful wildlife (elk, deer, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, mountain lions, bobcats, black bears and grizzly bears). The "Bob" is composed of the Bob Marshall, Great Bear, and Scapegoat Wildernesses, and is bordered on the north by Glacier National Park. One of the largest contiguous wilderness areas in the lower 48 states, it is considered the crown jewel of the American wilderness system.

The backpack into the area is about ten miles without much elevation change. This project will involve trail maintenance work on trails in the wilderness. We will be working out of a primitive backcountry camp on Inspiration Creek for the week. The work will focus on heavy trail maintenance including major reconstruction of eroded areas, sawing trees out of the trail corridor and brushing. We’ll have pack support to carry tools, food and commissary equipment to the campsite. On our day off, we can fish in Sunburst Lake, swim, and dayhike.

This trip is for experienced backpackers who want an adventure in a majestic national wilderness.
