The Maroon-Snowmass Trail is located within the Maroon Bell-Snowmass Wilderness area, one of five Wilderness areas in the Aspen/Sopris District of the White River National Forest. From the Snowmass Trailhead elevation of 8,000 the trail climbs steadily for 5 miles adjacent to Snowmass Creek. Crossing the creek at the outlet of the beaver ponds, the trail then ascends quickly for two miles to Snowmass Lake.

Trip participants will be asked to assist the Forest Service by working on projects designed to improve sections of the Four Pass Loop Trail out of Snowmass Lake. Volunteers will do treadwork, clean out waterbars, clear downed trees and do brushwork.

This trip is our second Gen XY trip, aimed at participants in their twenties and thirties. We recognize that our average age on the trips is 46, and that many younger folks would like to meet participants more their own age. The trip is suitable for beginners to service trips who are in good shape and willing to work hard in a beautiful wilderness area.
